Cupcake Wedding Cakes – 10 Ways to Decorate
If your worrying and stressing over the perfect modern wedding cake, wedding cake toppers and how to decorate your cake you should know there is an easier alternative.
You can still have elegance, whimsy or something that's just plain cute and you don't need to rely on the traditional wedding cakes. If you're considering a cupcake wedding cake here are 10 ways to decorate it so that it fit with your special day.
1. Sprinkles. Whether they're colorful or they sparkle sprinkles can be fun and add a bit of shimmer to your focal point.
2. Flowers. Wedding flowers are a huge part of your big day. You can also use them to adorn your cupcake stand. If you'd prefer to not use real flowers you can use silk or icing flowers, these are particularly great for a spring or summer wedding. Try Shasta daisies or gerbera daisies.
3. Elegant piping. When icing your cupcakes experiment with different tips and adapters to make all sorts of designs with icing. Check out these resources.
4. Marshmallow. Molten marshmallow can top a cupcake and make it look like a soft puffy cloud.
5. Small candy. Think cinnamon hearts, kisses, or jelly beans.
6. Fruit. Raspberries, blueberries and strawberries make for elegant finishing touches.
7. Fondant. This is becoming the topping of choice. You can apply it in smooth sheets or use it for cutting out different shapes and designs. This is one of my favorites.
8. Pearls. Sugar pearls on white icing - classic!
9. Cookies. Yes cookies. Choose an appropriate size and monogram each one with the bride and grooms last initial. You could also get creative and do one tier of the cupcake wedding cake with the brides first initial, another tier with the grooms first initial and finally another tier with the initial of their last name.
10. Whipped cream. This is especially nice when piped on a black forest cupcake. For a bit of variety try adding a hint of cocoa.
